Scottish Parliament 25/4/13

310867_10151516749318880_652340458_nA contingent of Parents, MAAC and SANDS went to the Scottish Parliament to engage with MSPs to highlight our fight for a Public Inquiry.

Kez Dugdale MSP for Lothians hosted and chaired a meeting between parents and Johann Lamont MSP (Scottish Labour Leader), Jackie Baillie MSP (Shadow Health Secretary) and Duncan McNeil MSP (Health Committe).  During this private session Dorothy Maitland (SANDS) gave an insight on how the scandal of Babies Ashes came to light.  Willie Reid our Chair then addressed the MSPs on MAAC and he was followed by Madelaine Cave and Arlene McDougall who gave emotional and forthright accounts of their personal stories into the loss of their babies.

The press then joined the group and we we joined by other MSPs, Ruth Davidson MSP (Conservative Leader), Jackson Carlaw (Conservative Dep Leader),  Anne McTaggart MSP to name a few.

During the press call, Willie was joined by Linsay Bonar to announce that affected parents from Edinburgh and Glasgow would be joining together in the fight for a Public Inquiry.  The day was seen as a great success and we now carry on with the fight for a Public Inquiry with the support from Labour and Conservative MSPs.

Our petition has grown in strength and Willie will meet with Kez Dugdale this week to discuss bringing the petition to Parliament.  Thank you to everyone who attended on Thursday, and we all thank you for your continued support!
